so it was friday today. i heard Sheikh Sudais’s speech/khutba at the manbar of the Ka3ba… about using one’s time wisely, now that the summer holidays have began. which brings me to what i have been planning to do with my summer after i finish exams. Life is funny. humans are even funnier.
anyhow, so there’s this programme of du3aa2 (read: du’aa) in dubai tv, called “light upon light” (aka noor 3ala nour). when i heard the opening nasheed, i immediately thought: “3amr diab. naah! ytf would he do an islamic nasheed? you’re crazy!”
and it was him! this was one of those time in my “young and inexperienced” life in which i scared myself. for amr diab fans (i let go of him a while ago) you can click on the highlighted link above. i often wonder if they (arab singers doing ”halal” things, e.g. ehab tawfiq) are hoping their voices might tip the scale in their favour, on judgement day.
yes, it is a sad and pessemistic thought, and one must look at themselves first (yimkin 3ando emaan aktar menni). but i always think they capitalise on people’s affections too much. je ne sais pas. maybe i’m wrong, may be i’m right.
i suddenly feel as though i am developing a gaping whole in my soul… must be filled quickly. afterall, he who reads surat kahf on a friday, as the Prophet (PBUH) said, will have light shed upon them in between the two fridays (the one he read it in, and the next friday). i need light. the last one has slowly fizzled out; i need more.
on a complete u-turn, andy murray has lost to andy roddick, ze rude american player. predictable, i know. may be next year. murray wasn’t ready, wasn’t ready at all.
and to everyone who googles “cute wimbledon umpire” and finds themselves in my blog… what were you thinking?!

arab tv is a lot better WITHOUT turkish drama… i stayed away from the noor hype, and alhamdulillah for it. but i like the egypt-under-british-rule drama on mbc, though i wish i followed it more closely!
bring back my latin american soaps!!! i loved those…ahh!
I actually like his music, nasheed or not. I don’t watch the videos since most of them are a bit too cheesy and overhyped crap. But I like listening to arabic music once in a while.
his voice is undeniably tender with a genuine streak. perhaps that’s y the fan went crazy for him? donno.
